Freeway Jam

Freeway Jam

Freeway Jam has been dwelling on music from the distant past a lot this month, and we're overdue for a return to less ancient history. However, by request, I'm re-visiting the olden days once more to compile a Haight-Ashbury playlist.

Piclash

I've always had an interest in photography but could never really afford to pursue it. With the advent of digital photography I’m free to experiment with no risk of additional expense. This blog's the output of my experiment. For better or worse.

One Couch Critic

Regina Avalos is an avid TV watcher, watching several shows on a weekly basis. The summer months have brought reviews for such shows as So you think you can dance, Queer as Folk and Real World: Austin. With the fall season now underway, look for reviews on other popular television shows, mixed in with music, movie and book reviews. Do you get LOST weekly? Is The O.C. your guilty pleasure? Are you waiting to see how ER deals with the loss of DR. Carter? What new shows have you interested now, and will they keep your interest when the season begins? Pull up a chair and join one couch critic as she recaps and discusses what's hot in television, music, movies and books.

Green Apples From the Sky

Life happens. It's inevitable. So, in order to better deal with life's "happenings" with me, I figured I'd better start writing the stuff down. Hell...it's cheaper than therapy, right?

Adventures Of Em: Silly Edition

Silly, stupid, fun: Games, humor, silly things I find on the internet, silly thoughts..

The Adventures of Em was too variegated, and needed to be refined to a less confusing format... and so this blog was born - it's the curd of AOE, it's the silly, the fun, and the ridiculous.

Exuvia.net

Animal emotions are hard to pin down. Dolphins always look like they're smiling, some dogs just have that happy look, but with those rare exceptions, emotion is hard to get across in an animal portrait. I mean you often just get sleepy animal, or mad animal.

In this case, I think it's all in the eyes. Sure this lion was behind 2 inches of plexiglass. Sure he was just chilling out on a rock next to a lioness, but look into his eyes, and there's no doubt in my mind he's still got a fire burning inside.

This was of course at the SF Zoo. As stated before, I shot this through 2 inches of pretty dirty plexiglass. I don't blame them though, I wouldn't want to be the guy in charge of cleaning the inside of the windows. It looks ok at this scale, but once you zoom in it's pretty noisy. I don't know if it's because of the cloudy day, or maybe it's because of shooting through the plexiglass.

Benguin v. 1.02

NetVibes

Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with RSS/Atom feeds. I don’t even remember what I did before I found out what they were, check websites everyday even if they weren’t updated? Those days seem like so long ago even if it was just a few months ago. Someone showed me today a new site called Netvibes which is a service that gives you the ability to create a custom web 2.0 page, much like the Google personal home pages and My Yahoo!. Where NetVibes tops these other two established services is in its ease of use, and its super clean look that is fully customizable. Besides having your feeds, the ability to search google/yahoo/MSN/Wikipedia, Gmail, weather, and a notepad; NetVibes also has a built-in podcast player so you can keep up-to-date with all your favorite shows no matter where you are. This service is ideal for anyone who travels often and doesn’t always have access to their computer. I haven’t had time to try out all of NetVibes features yet, and the only gripe that I have had so far is its lack of support for Safari, which as noted should be available soon. However this doesn’t even seem like that big of a problem for me because most of the time I am not at my computer, chances are I will be on a windows box. Everything being said, I still do this service no justice so just do yourself a favor and check this service out.

My Photography, Scrapbook, and stock tips

All great achievements arose from dissatisfaction

I found these near an abandoned trailer. I guess he just gave up on the 12 steps. So I am going to pick up where he left off. The other tokens were for 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. On the back it said "Warm Springs Rehab". I think it's time to detoxify my toxic lifestyle one day at a time.

Things they won't tell you in film school

Have you ever dreamed of leaving your humdrum life behind to take your shot in Hollywood? I made the mystifying choice to ditch a glamorous job as a foreign correspondent to become Another Struggling Screenwriter. My "Ultimate Guide to Not Quite Making It In Hollywood" starts the year I graduate my Big Deal Film School and won't end until I walk the red carpet to the premiere of My Very Own Big Studio Movie.

The Rosebud Chronicles - classic films in cyberspace

A.I. Bitnik is the netonym for a journalist, blogger and medianaut living in northeastern Pennsylvania. My interests include science, technology, culture and politics. By day I’m a political reporter for a daily newspaper, but we won’t talk about that here. I have a wife who is trying to launch a music career and a seven-year-old son who loves dinosaurs and robots so that fuels some of my scientific curiosities. I’m a huge film fan with favorites including modern, classic, foreign and independent cinema. Please check out my first blog at http://rosebudchronicles.blogspot.com and feel free to link to it or send the link to anyone you think might be interested.

Humor and humour - Gone Away, a journal of Clive Allen in America

Humor and Humour
13/09/2005

Let's face it, humor and humour are two different things. Although the Americans and the British can understand many of each other's jokes, there are areas of comedy where one nation will stare at the other in blank incomprehension. Yet both have specialties (specialities) in which they excel and there is some sharing of television comedy shows between the two nations.

A few British TV shows make it all the way across the Atlantic without amendment; Monty Python's Flying Circus and The Benny Hill Show spring to mind. And both of these examples are interesting in that they represent the adolescent side of Brit humor, the sort of surreal jokes that schoolboys or university students make in their wilder moments.
